Summer 2016 – Press Round-up

It’s been a busy little Spring/Summer period here at RE but we’ve still managed to get our noses into some of our favourite publications and sniff out some RE products hiding among the other enchanting homewares.

telegraph magazine

First up, the Telegraph Magazine from April where our Green Glass Jadite Cakestands are in Regal company.

luxe loves may 2016

In May Luxe loved our Reclaimed Needlepoint chairs, standing in a line on the moors.

Two features from July our Old French Garden Furniture graces the pages of Homes& Antiques and our Jute string rolls into Country Homes & Interiors.

RE transcends borders by being featured in not one but two issues of Swiss publication Schweizer Garten #7 & 8 with our Rose Print Linen Cushion and 4-Rotor Hook respectively.

REcollections – ‘Daft as a brush!’

Jenny, co-owner of RE showcases one of her many unique collections…

A brush for any job and every occasion, my collection spans many decades and thousands of miles. From contemporary to antique, elegant to simplistic, from near and far afield, every brush is irresistible to me – the charm of brushes comes from a combination of their tactile nature and usefulness. It’s a joy to be able to showcase them!

Jenny’s brush collection can be viewed in the museum cabinet in stoRE from now until further notice.

May – Press Round Up

Time to harvest our spring press editorials and this May’s has been a bumper crop!

Home & Gardens Baskets

Our Guatamalen, recycled, woven plastic baskets have never looked more vibrant and beautiful than in Homes and Garden’s feature on colour. H&G cleverly use our baskets to demonstrate the principle that bold contrasting colours can work as well in decorating schemes.

Meanwhile, Country Living focus on the current trend for folk style and incorporate several of our products into their gorgeous interiors and fashion feature. Our intricately carved wooden bread board hangs against a stunning backdrop of black and white floral damask wallpaper. Four of our handy hardboard clipboards have each been covered with a different wallpaper design and used to hold fabric swatches above an old wooden work table, alongside one of our pressed metal birds. Our vintage cutlery looks at home with a collection of traditional Romanian crockery.

This month the World of Interiors features an atmospheric 5 page spread on candlelight. A many and varied selection of beautiful candlesticks and holders all have one thing in common – RE’s coloured tapered candles – drip free and in an astonishing range of colours! Our Italian aluminium candle holder also makes the cut!

Thanks once again to all our friends at the wonderful publications who continue to feature our products – can’t wait to see what Summer brings!

Spring – pREss Roundup

Spring has arrived and with it the feeling of change and growth. Time to get everything ship shape and rid ourselves of that winter clutter. We’ve been keeping an eye on all of the homewares magazines for tips and tricks on how to get the fREsh feeling of spring into our lives,  along the way we happened to run into a few familiar products.

Little bit late to the party on this one because this is actually H&G from November last year. I’m sure some of you are still feeling the last of the winter chill creeping out of your bones. So sit down by the fire enjoy a game of Dominos and Toast some Marshmallows over the fire to get that spring warmth under your skin.

Moving into Feburary now and things are looking a lot more vibrant. Bright colours and cobalt accents pepper this edition of Living etc, drawing your eye and heling us to forget those grey winter days. Our Classic Cardboard David Head sits proudly atop a slate effect wardrobe sporting a rather dapper hat to boot. Perfectly placed amidst a storm of colour is our Hand Painted Metal Heart.

Country Homes & Interiors from April now. We have this delightfully bright bedroom scene which is making all of us at RE dream about breakfast in bed on a bright Sunday Morning. I can’t speak for everyone but I would replace that roll of Yellow Jute String with a warm buttery croissant at the drop of a hat.

living etc april 16 copy

Living Etc again and a return for our David. The Italian Laser Cut work of art sits proudly amongst some other equally impressive busts and sculptures.

That’s it for now folks, hope you have enjoyed this roundup. We’ll be back soon with the summer press update, which we are keeping our fingers crossed will feature white sands and blue seas.

Soaking up the ambience at Ambiente!

house frame

In a continuation of this year’s buying/inspiration trips, Simon and Jenny are recently returned from ‘Ambiente’, Frankfurt’s annual home and interiors event.

As ever, the fair represented a huge melting pot of truly international exhibitors from global brands to tiny one-off manufacturers –  trade stands varied from miniature one-man booths to full sized Swiss Chalets! There really was something for everyone and plenty for us see.

Knife Maker

We often commission our own designs to be manufactured by suppliers, as well as buying smaller quantities of interesting products from artisan makers. This season we bought mouth-blown glass Christmas decorations to add to our ‘Heirloom’ range and commissioned felt items from Kathmandu, made to our own specifications, as well as much, much more.

We noticed several trends emerging, including many different materials often assisted by technology, to create new and interesting concepts and textures. Natural materials also continue to be important – woven rush mats dyed in a myriad of rainbow colours, rattan lamps and bowls, carved wood, blonde wood, raw and scorched black wood, as well as metals with different finishes

Some trends just refuse to go away – Nordic, geometrics and copper included! But Ambiente is big and exciting enough to distance yourself from the trends you want to leave behind!..

This year, Germany’s partner country was Italy, so red, white and green naturally featured heavily in the displays!

We anticipate our new products starting to arrive very soon – watch our website and email for more details…
